Snipers was a Swedish Eurodance and hip-hop project active in the mid-1990s. The group was produced by Niklas Lindberg and Lars Hult, two DJs based in Stockholm and Sundsvall. The musical driving force behind the project was Magnus Walterstad, while Martin Englund (also known as Modest, co-rapper of Melodie MC) contributed as well. Abdul, who had previously released the solo single “Well Do Ya?” under Sidelake Productions, was one of the group’s key members. Chalona, another vocalist, also performed as a lead singer on Melodie MC’s “The Return Tour.”
Snipers recorded their first track, “Ain’t No Stoppin’,” which appeared on a Remixed Records Promotion compilationunder the name The Launchers feat. Snipers. However, it was never officially released as a single.
Their 1994 release “Who’s to Blame” was primarily a hip-hop track but included an Eurodance remix. The song “Fire”was later remixed by Solid Base, and “Crystal” was recorded shortly after, though it was never officially released, appearing only on another Remixed Records compilation.
Despite their promising start, Snipers disbanded in 1995, leaving behind a brief but memorable mark on the Eurodance and hip-hop scenes.
